About Terang

Terang is situated on the Princess Highway, 141km west of Geelong and 45km north east of Warrnambool, in the centre of a rich dairying district. Smaller centres around it such as Kolora, Noorat, Glenormiston, Dixie and Ecklin have used Terang as a service town for many years.

Terang is a National Trust Town of historic Trees and has one of the oldest avenues of English oaks in Australia which was planted in the 1890’s. The town is also well known for Lake Keilambete, which is very deep, and nearly as salty as the famous dead sea. The lake is supposed to have good healing qualities. Visitors may wish to play a round on Terang’s 27 hole golf course, which has lush fairways, manicured greens and a club house. Model vehicle enthusiasts will find a Mecca just outside Terang - the biggest collection of hobby cars, trucks and other vehicles outside Melbourne.
