About Horsham

Horsham has a population of around 13,500 and is the heart of the Wimmera agriculture and cropping region.  Thousands of tourists and rock climbing enthusiasts from around the world visit each year to experience Mount Arapiles and the Grampians National Park.

Under normal weather conditions the region boasts many fine lakes, and a Wimmera River system, that is extremely popular with fishing, boating, swimming and water enthusiasts.

Horsham hosts a range of quality major sporting and cultural events. You can view the fine collection of Australian art and photography at the Horsham Regional Art Gallery, and attend live music and theatre events at the Wesley Performing Arts Centre.

Shopping

Safeway and Coles are the main supermarket chains in Horsham. Please note that the opening hours are typically more restricted than those in the city.

The Horsham Market is held on the 2nd Sunday of every month at the Horsham Showgrounds, McPherson St.

Dining

You'll find many fine restaurants, hotel bistros, cafés, bakeries, and take away to choose from. The warm dry climate is also perfect for alfresco dining with a glass of fine wine from one of western Victoria’s many wineries!

If you enjoy outdoor activity visit the Horsham Police Paddock, which covers an area of 48ha, providing recreational opportunities for walkers, cyclists, anglers, bird watchers and dog owners in a woodland setting.

The Wimmera River is also a favourite spot for rowing, kayaking and canoeing, and the banks feature a number of picnic and BBQ areas.

Mount Arapiles and the nearby Grampians National Park offer world-renown rock climbing opportunities.

For those who prefer the indoors, visit the Horsham Aquatic Centre, which features an indoor-heated pool (25m, 8 lanes), and a leisure/program pool, gymnasium and recreation hall, creche/meeting room, kiosk and outdoor cafe.

The Horsham Golf Course is known as country Victoria’s best (awarded by the pro-am circuit).
