About Camperdown
Centred in the heart of the 'Lakes and Craters Country', Camperdown is central to one of Australia's richest agricultural farming districts. This pleasant rural town has a population of approximately 3,200 and services a wide area of dairy, sheep and beef farming communities. Camperdown features an 'Avenue of Elms' along the main street and is distinguished by being on the world's third-largest volcanic plain. The plain is dotted with volcanic cones - Mount Leura being the largest in the local area and numerous lakes which have formed in volcanic craters.

Shopping
There are three large supermarket chains - IGA, Safeway and FoodWorks - in Camperdown. Please note that the opening hours are typically more restricted than those in the city.
The Camperdown Craft Market is also held in Finlay Avenue from 10.00am - 2.00pm on the first Sunday of every month.

Sports, Recreation and Tourism
Camperdown has plenty of attractions in the immediate vicinity - the volcanic Lakes Gnotuk and Bulleen Merri are the perfect location for water sports, and the Mt. Leura lookout is the location of an annual hill climb. The Leura Festival is held in the last week of February and a Heritage Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in November.
The racecourse boasts one of Country Victoria’s best-known grandstands. Lake Corangamite and the Historic Museum are also popular destinations. Camperdown's Theatre Royal shows movies on a weekly basis, as well as special events hosted by visiting and local Performing Arts groups.
