About Bordertown

Bordertown is approximately 275 km east of Adelaide with a population of 2300.  Bordertown is considered the gateway to the state for traffic from Melbourne and is a rich agricultural district with its production of cereals, vegetables, seeds, wool, meat and wine grapes.  Settled in the early 1850s during the gold rush period.

The Tolmer Park has a wonderful interpretive walk and unique public toilets located in original gaol cells.  The nearby wetlands reserve set amongst magnificent red gums centuries old is a great spot for picnicking and yabbying.


Shopping

Foodland at 92 De Courcey St, is the supermarket in Bordertown and is open 7 days from 7am to 8pm.

Dining

With hotels, restaurants, cafes, roadhouses and bakeries throughout Bordertown you should have no trouble finding somewhere to eat.

Attractions and Entertainment

Spend some time at the faithfully restored Clayton Farm Heritage museum to experience farm life as it was more than a century ago. Or venture into the Council lobby to view the Bob Hawke Gallery. Bordertown was the birth place of the former Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
Border town is also famous for its colony of white kangaroos.


A 260-seat cinema is used regularly for movies and/or stage productions or shows. This is situated above the Library in Bordertown's main street - Woolshed Street.

Bordertown has a number of recreational activities available including, fishing, boating, walking trails, golf, skate park, outdoor swimming pool, speedway and tennis.

Banks
The three major banks in Bordertown are, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ Bank and Westpac Bank, all located on Woolshed St.  ATM's allow 24/7 access.

Library
The Bordertown Library is located at 55 Woolshed Street, Bordertown 5268 and is open Monday, Tuesday & Friday 9.30am till 5.30pm, Wednesday & Thursday from 9.30am till 6:00pm and Saturday 9:30 till 11:30.

The Bordertown Post Office is located in Woolshed Street.

There are three main petrol stations in Bordertown. Opening hours are generally more restricted than in the city.

There is a 24hr laundromat located on the corner of Crocker St and Binnie St.
