Student Rural Health Clubs
|
There are approximately 29 Rural Health Clubs (RHCs) within Australia. The National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN) provides a gateway to all RHCs within the States and Territories of Australia, as well as useful maps and a breakdown of all those acronyms! These clubs aim to promote rural and remote practice to their members through provision of resources and tools; promotion of placement opportunities, and support and advocacy. RHCs are are a great way to meet other students through organised events and social nights; to find out about available scholarships and other financial support schemes, and to access useful information about clinical placements and future careers opportunities. NOMAD (Nursing, Occupation Health, Medicine and Allied Health at Deakin), runs activities across Deakin's four campuses and provides access to career information and opportunities in rural health. Students in any health discipline with an interest in rural health are eligible to join. The Flinders University Rural Health Society (FURHS) offers students access to clinical placement and career information and opportunities, and a wide array of activities. FURHS works closely with the National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN) and the Rural Doctors Workforce Agency (RDWA) to offer some amazing events, including Royal Flying Doctor flights, Port Augusta and Quorn weekends, and High School visits in the Riverland and other sites in South Australia. |
