BSW Mental Health Mapping Project
This project looks at the provision of services for high frequency psychological disorders – that is, depression and anxiety – in the South West region of Victoria in the context of the increased priority placed on mental health by both Commonwealth and State governments.
The main aims of the study will be to:- Identify the capacity and structure of the current services available to those with depression and anxiety
- Determine points of entry and service pathways from a consumer perspective
- Identify service gaps, barriers and enablers to service utilisation
- Analyse the impact of the new Medicare Benefits Schedule items on service usage and the mental health workforce
- Propose recommendations to streamline service delivery through consultation with key stakeholders
The project will include services funded by State and Commonwealth, private and community providers and will also focus on the experience of the consumer in accessing appropriate services.
Due for completion in June 2008, the project is funded through the Victorian Department of Human Services.
