Pharmacy Academic UDRH Education and Training Program
The Pharmacist Academics at University Departments of Rural Health (PAUDRH) scheme was established under the terms of the Third Community Pharmacy Agreement. This scheme provided funding to recruit a part-time academic pharmacist at each UDRH in Australia.
Kevin Mc Namara is the pharmacist academic at the GGT UDRH.
In the Greater Green Triangle region, the pharmacy program places a major focus on providing support to preceptors, undergraduate students during their clinical or research placements, the provision of continuing professional development opportunities for pharmacists and the development of relevant pharmacy practice research.
Rural undergraduate placement support involves facilitating student access to the various resources and services of the GGT UDRH's Student Support Program, such as Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training and computing and internet facilities, and also organising pharmacy-specific rural visits to a range of different rural health services. Graduate pharmacists are able to avail of multidisciplinary and pharmacy-specific continuing professional development - this access is expected to increase further through the dissemination of online lectures from the Society of Hospital Pharmacists on the GGT UDRH-run Statewide Allied Health Workforce Education Program (SAHWEP) "Professional Development for Allied Health Professionals" website
