Kevin Mc Namara (MSc (Community Pharmacy), BSc (Pharmacy), FNICS) is a Research Fellow with the Department, a pharmacy academic position funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing as part of the Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement through the Rural and Remote Pharmacy Workforce Development Program managed by the Pharmacy Guild of Australia. Kevin also holds a NH&MRC National Institute of Clinical Studies Fellowship (National Institute of Clinical Studies-National Prescribing Service Quality Use of Medicines Fellowship 2008-2010).
Areas of research and teaching interest include chronic disease risk factor management, health promotion, public health, implementation science and professional development, especially in the pharmacy practice setting. Kevin is currently the principal investigator for two research projects examining how community pharmacists can help the prevention of cardiovascular disease, and is also a chief investigator on a major clinical trial examining the role of community pharmacists in improving adherence to cardiovascular medicines.
Kevin is also a part-time position as Lecturer in Pharmacy Practice at Monash University, and has previously been employed as a Primary Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin (Ireland).
