Andrea Hernan (BPH&HP) is a Research Associate based in the Department's Warrnambool Office. She originally worked with the Department as a Research Assistant within the Researcher Development Program (RDP) and learnt valuable research skills through her involvement with the Diabetes Prevention for Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Groups and the Healthy Minds for Country Youth projects.  Andrea has contributed to various research projects across the GGT UDRH, with her main work being in the Melbourne Diabetes Prevention Study.

Her research interests include primary health care, public heath, social determinants of health, rural health and health promotion. Andrea joined the Australian Primary Health Care Institute's (APHCRI) Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) as a Masters student in January 2012 and will be working on a project in Research Stream 2 exploring patient and consumer perspectives of safety and quality within general practice in Australia.
